Miss Natalie was happily drinking her water when she decided to run across the room to join her sister and daddy for a tickle fight. She rounded the ottoman and shortly after tripped and landed sippy cup first, followed by her face. Crying ensued. At first we thought it was just another fall, but we quickly realized that she was bleeding. Further inspection revealed something white in her mouth, but she would let not us take another peek. I consoled her in my lap for a while and by the time she stopped crying her tooth was gone. The only look she allowed me showed that her upper left incisor was gone. There was no sign of any other trauma to her mouth and after the initial shock of what had just happened, she was acting 100% normal again. It is amazing how resilient children are.

We called the dentist and as expected there was nothing they could do. She did want us to come in for an office visit to make sure the entire tooth came out. So first thing this morning off to the dentist's office we went. This place was like the Disney World of dentist offices. They had gaming consoles and a puppet theater in the waiting room, cartoons on TV over every exam chair, and if you're good you get a prize when you're done. They had me sit in the exam chair with Natalie on my lap so they could take some x-rays. Nat bit the hygienist, but other than that she did pretty well. Right after that the DR did an exam and it was determined that the whole tooth was gone. She told me what to look for as far as infection goes and we were on our way. Natters will have a hole in her grin until around age 8 when her adult one grows in to fill the gap. It adds character, right?

After the appointment they had me fill out some forms and one question asked what Natalie likes to spend her time doing, such as a sport or hobby (I assume so they can make small talk). It wrote in "playing with her toys", they LOLed at my answer and I told the woman that I didn't think "harassing her sister" was an appropriate response. ;) Sad, but true. They are total frenemies.

She will have an adorable grin no matter what!
