Natalie is one week old today. We are still adjusting, but have settled into a routine for the most part. Adrianna is still very skeptical of the baby. She is beginning to realize that Natalie is real and not a doll. It's taken her the full week to warm up to the baby, but she is starting to nicely pet her on the head. There is a bit of jealousy, but we knew that would happen. Lots of extra attention usually does the trick.
Erik is an amazing father and is spoiling me by helping out a TON while he's on paternity leave. Things will be rough when he goes back to work, but he'll be on summer leave soon. I always pictured that I would care for the newborn and Erik would be in the helper role, but it's actually been kind of backwards. I focus on Adrianna, to help keep her life normal, and Erik takes care of Natalie the majority of the time. We both do whatever household duties need to be done as they come up/as we have time. It's working out very well for us.
My recovery has been quite a rollercoaster. It is MUCH better than last time, but still no walk in the park. I felt amazing for the first 3 days PP and then the hot flashes, shakes, back/head aches and general soreness set in. I am doing better now though. I've only had to take my meds once today - wohooo!!
